The Early Years & A Diverse Legacy

Before 1982, the foundation for our expertise in all things with an engine was being laid. BMG was built on a principle of seeing value in all kinds of transport, not just cars. This vision is why, even today, we differ to most dealers as we trade in bikes, caravans, boats, and all manner of vehicles—a legacy stemming from our earliest days in the motor trade.

In the late 1980s, BMG officially established itself as a motor vehicle dealer. The business began with a focus on delivering excellent customer service and high-quality used vehicles.

The Move to Motor Cars & Dealership Growth

Circa Late 1990s - Early 2000s: The Used Car Foundation

Starting with a small, second-hand car yard. This period focused intensely on used car operations, building a reputation for trust and fair trading in the local community of Ballarat.

2009: The Kia 'Big Break'

A pivotal moment in the company's history came in March 2009 when BMG secured its first major franchise, becoming a Kia dealer. This move was described by the owners as their "first big break" and coincided perfectly with the start of a major product wave and quality revolution for the Kia brand. This franchise partnership allowed BMG to expand into a full-service new car operation, growing rapidly and eventually earning prestigious global recognition from Kia.

Expansion and The BMG Motor Group

Since its establishment and through the success of the Kia franchise, the company grew into the full-service Bedggoods Motor Group  you see today.

The group expanded its portfolio to represent numerous major automotive brands, including:

• More recently, the group has embraced the future of mobility by taking on new and emerging brands like OMODA JAECOO.
